Installation + FAQs
What makes Click Rail Pro look professional?
Click Rail Pro is designed for high-visibility spaces where a refined finish matters. The flush-mount profile helps keep the hanging point visually discreet, so attention stays on the artwork rather than the hardware. The difference is most noticeable when using near invisible perlon hanging wires.
Flange-up vs flange-down installation
Click Rail Pro can be installed in two orientations. The main visual difference relates to the perlon wire tip (the small end that inserts into the rail). If you are using steel wires, this detail generally matters much less.
- Flange-down: best for the cleanest look with perlon. The perlon wire tip at the rail is concealed for a more seamless finish.
- Flange-up: allows the rail to sit closer to the ceiling or cornice, which can suit tighter spaces or specific detailing. With perlon, the wire tip remains visible at the rail entry point.
Both methods are covered in the installation sheets above.
How much weight can Click Rail Pro picture rail hold?
Up to 50 kg per metre when fixed with the supplied Click & Connect clips on brick, concrete or timber-stud walls.
Can I cut Click Rail Pro picture rails to custom lengths?
Yes, you can cut the Click Rail Pro to custom lengths using a hacksaw, a fine-tooth mitre saw blade, or a drop saw. Deburr the edges for a clean finish.
How to Install the Click Rail Pro Picture Rail?
Mark a straight line along your wall using a laser level, chalk line, or the rail itself. Allow 3 Click & Connect clips per metre, so 6 for a 2 m rail and 9 for a 3 m rail. Fix the Click & Connect clips along the line, then click the rail firmly into place using your fist or a rubber mallet. When joining two rails, use one clip to span the join: position the end of each rail over half the clip so it acts as both a fastener and a joiner. Ensure each clip locks in securely for a clean, flush finish.
Is Click Rail Pro picture rail suitable for gyprock, brick and concrete walls?
Absolutely – Click Rail Pro can be installed on gyprock (plasterboard), brick, and concrete. The key is using the right fixings for the wall behind the paint.
-
Gyprock: Use a stud finder and fix into studs where you can. If there are no studs where the clips need to go, wall mates are a good option.
-
Brick or concrete: Drill 6 mm holes, insert the masonry plugs supplied, then screw the Click & Connect clips on so they sit flush against the wall.
What’s in the free fastener kit?
The free fastener kit includes all the Click & Connect clips, plugs, screws, and end caps you need for your rails. It’s a built-in saving, worth $9.52 for a 2 m rail and $14.31 for a 3 m rail.
Can Click Rail Pro sit flush under cornices?
Yes, Click Rail Pro can sit flush under cornices, but since cornices are rarely perfectly straight, start by finding the lowest point. Use the rail itself, a chalk line, or a laser level to mark a straight reference line. Install your Click & Connect clips along that line, (3 per metre) then click the rail into place using your fist or a rubber mallet. Confirm that it connects firmly with each clip.
Is the white rail ready to use, or can I paint it?
You can use it as is; it is a cold white that matches typical ceiling paint. But if you prefer, you can paint over it with any interior wall paint, as it is primed. It then blends in seamlessly with your space.
Is this suitable for renters?
Yes, the Click Rail Pro is perfect for commercial and residential rental. iI keeps the landlord’s walls pristine while allowing tenants to hang and rearrange artwork freely, without screws, holes, or damage.
What is the difference between Click Rail and Click Rail Pro?
Click Rail Pro has a deeper profile than the standard Click Rail,. It gives you two mounting options: flange down to hide wire tips, or flange up to sit closer to the ceiling (see above section ‘Flange-up vs flange-down installation’ for a more detailed explanation). It supports up to 50 kg per metre, ideal for heavier artworks. Click Rail holds up to 30 kg per metre, Click Rail Pro has a 50 kg per metre weight bearing.
How to hang art with Click Rail Pro
Twist your perlon or steel hanging wire into the rail anywhere along the track, add a suitable picture hook, then slide left or right until everything sits perfectly. Rearranging takes minutes and your walls stay pristine and free of holes.
Choosing wires and hooks
Choose perlon hanging wires when you want the most discreet, near invisible look. For a more architectural finish, I often recommend 1 mm steel wires – they fall beautifully, look modern and elegant, and are built to last. For heavier pieces or commercial installs, 2 mm steel wires are the heavy-duty option. Then choose hooks that match your artwork weight, security needs, and environment.
How can I hang 2 or 3 frames on one pair of hanging wires?
Think of the two wires as the sides of a ladder, and each frame sits on its own rung. Each frame needs 2 hooks (one on each wire), so 2 frames need 4 hooks and 3 frames need 6 hooks.
Choose perlon (clear nylon) for the most invisible look, or steel for a clean, architectural look. Steel is also easier to handle because it falls nicely and is more robust if you rehang often.
-
With 1 mm perlon Twister wires:
1 mm perlon Twister + 1 mm Micro Grip hook = 5 kg per wire/hook set
So a pair (two wires/two hooks) = 10 kg per column. -
With 1 mm steel Twister wires:
1 mm steel Twister + 1 mm Micro Grip hook = 10 kg per wire/hook set
So a pair (two wires/two hooks) = 20 kg per column. - 2 mm perlon Twisters + 2 mm Micro Grip hooks
This heavier-duty setup can handle up to 40 kg per column (pair).
Use D-rings, not the string, or wire (framers often attach them to the back of pictures) for straight hanging. Screw them to the frame as high as possible without being visible once hung.
For professional results when hanging pictures in a column use tilt reducers to prevent forward tilt.
If you still have some forward tilt (or your frame is marking the wall), add frame spacers to the bottom back of your frame.
Anti-theft option
For higher-security applications, the rail can be configured as an anti-theft system using a solid slider hanging wire combined with Micro Grip Lock hooks (sold separately). This is an excellent solution for public-facing spaces where you want flexibility without easy removal.
Good to know (summary)
- Load rating: the 50 kg/m rating depends on wall type and fixings. Follow the installation sheet for your wall surface.
- Rearranging: move wires and hooks and avoid drilling, patching or repainting your walls
- Help choosing parts: if you are unsure which wires and hooks to use, ask us and we will match them to your artwork and space
