Installation Guide & Common Questions
What makes Click Rail Pro “Professional”?
Click Rail Pro is engineered for spaces where finish is everything. The unique profile is designed to be installed flush against the ceiling, making it less visible than standard rails.
The Key Difference: It features a deeper channel that can completely hide the top “head” of your hanging wires (when installed flange-down), keeping the focus 100% on your artwork.
Flange-Up vs. Flange-Down: Which way do I install it?
The Click Rail Pro is reversible. You can mount it two ways depending on the look you want:
- Option 1: Flange-Down (Most Popular): The wider flange is at the bottom. This conceals the top of the hanging wire (the “slider”) inside the rail, creating the cleanest possible look. Recommended when using invisible Perlon wires.
- Option 2: Flange-Up: The wider flange is at the top. This allows the rail to be mounted higher, sitting closer to the ceiling or cornice.
What is the difference between Click Rail and Click Rail Pro?
The standard Click Rail is rated to 30kg/m and has a slimmer profile (25mm high). The Click Rail Pro is heavier duty, rated to 50kg/m, and features a deeper profile (37.5mm high). The Pro version gives you the reversible mounting options mentioned above (flange up or flange down) which the standard rail does not offer.
What is inside the Free Fastener Kit?
Every rail from Hang Logic comes with a Free Fastener Kit containing the essential Click & Connect clips, screws, plugs, and end caps. This is a built-in saving, worth $9.52 for a 2m rail and $14.31 for a 3m rail.
How do I install the Click Rail Pro?
Installation follows the standard 3-step process, but with a focus on alignment:
- Mark: Use a laser level or chalk line to mark a perfectly straight line.
- Fix: Install the Click & Connect clips (3 per metre) along your line.
- Click: Snap the rail firmly onto the clips using a rubber mallet or your fist.
Important: You must apply firm pressure until the rail snaps 100% flush against the wall. If you see a gap, the rail is not faulty—it simply needs more force to engage the heavy-duty clip.
Can Click Rail Pro sit flush under cornices?
Yes. However, since cornices are rarely perfectly straight, you should start by finding the lowest point of the cornice. Use the rail itself, a chalk line, or a laser level to mark a straight reference line from that point. Install your clips along that line, then click the rail into place. Confirm that it connects firmly with each clip for a seamless finish.
Can I cut the rail to custom lengths?
Yes. You can easily cut Click Rail Pro to any length using a hacksaw, a fine-tooth mitre saw blade, or a drop saw. We recommend you deburr (file) the sharp edges after cutting for a clean finish.
Can I install on Gyprock, Brick, or Concrete?
Yes. The method changes slightly depending on your wall:
- Gyprock (Plasterboard): For maximum strength (to reach that 50kg limit), fix into studs where possible. If studs don’t align, use high-quality hollow-wall anchors (like Wall Mates).
- Brick / Concrete: Use the supplied 6mm masonry plugs. A hammer drill makes this quick and neat.
Can I repaint the rail?
Yes. Choose the “White Primer” version. It comes pre-primed and ready for any standard interior acrylic paint.
Pro Tip: Paint the rails after installation. Because the heavy-duty clips require firm pressure (or a mallet) to engage, painting beforehand often leads to chipped paint during the install.
Is this suitable for renters?
Yes, the Click Rail Pro is perfect for commercial and residential rentals. It keeps the landlord’s walls pristine while allowing tenants to hang and rearrange artwork freely, without screws, holes, or damage.
How to choose the right Wires & Hooks?
Match your choice to the weight of your art and your desired aesthetic:
- The “Invisible” Look: Use Perlon (Transparent) Cords. Best for light to medium art where you want the wire to disappear.
- The “Architectural” Look: Use Stainless Steel Cables (1mm or 2mm). These hang straighter and look fantastic in modern or industrial spaces.
How do I hang multiple pictures (columns)?
Think of two hanging wires as the sides of a ladder. You can stack multiple pictures on the same pair of wires.
The Rule: 1 Frame = 2 Hooks (one on each wire).
Therefore, to hang 2 frames one above the other, you need 4 hooks total.
Weight Limits for Columns:
- 1mm Perlon + 1mm Micro Grip: Max 10kg per pair (column).
- 1mm Steel + 1mm Micro Grip: Max 20kg per pair (column).
- 2mm Steel + 2mm Micro Grip: Max 40kg per pair (column).
Accessories for Columns:
- Use D-Rings on your frames for stability.
- Use Tilt Reducers to keep frames flat against the wall.
- Use Frame Spacers at the bottom corners if the frame tilts forward.
Anti-Theft Option
For higher-security applications, the rail can be configured as an anti-theft system using a solid slider hanging wire combined with Micro Grip Lock hooks (sold separately). This is an excellent solution for public-facing spaces where you want flexibility without easy removal.
