Up Rail Includes Free Mounting Kit (Saveup to $14.31)
Price range: $21.55 through $32.29
Up Rail clicks onto discreet ceiling clips to create a clean, continuous hanging line. It’s ideal for homes with tiled, textured or feature walls you don’t want to drill, and equally handy for shopfronts, galleries and offices where a floating line away from the wall is useful. The rail’s rounded profile neatly fills the space between wall and ceiling, so the system stays discreet and unobtrusive.
Key advantages
- Wall-friendly: preserve tiles, render, venetian plaster, timber and other feature finishes.
- True floating line: run the rail anywhere along the ceiling, not just at the perimeter.
- Quick, tidy install: rail clicks onto clips; place a clip about every 40 cm (≈3 per metre).
- Blend-in or contrast: choose white (primer, RAL 9016) and leave as is or repaint, or black for a sharp architectural line

Up Rail vs Top Rail — quick guidance
Mounting style & placement
- Up Rail: clip-on system; typically run along the ceiling line (and can be used wherever you have solid structure in the ceiling) for a clean, floating look.
- Top Rail: screw-through rail; typically installed at the wall–ceiling junction (perimeter line). Not intended for mid-ceiling runs.
Fixings density
- R40: about 3 clips per metre (clip every ~40 cm).
- Top Rail: about 8 screws per metre through the rail.
Capacity
- Both are 20 kg per metre when installed correctly — choose based on placement and fixing method.
Screws & supply
- An installation kit for Top Rail is available but suits concrete ceilings only. For timber or steel joists you’ll need to source suitable screws (we don’t supply them), and the rail’s screw holes are small, so choose carefully.
Compatible drops & hooks (all from Hang Logic)
Drops (wires/cords)
- Twister 1 mm (perlon or steel): Twister 1 mm Hanging Wires
- Twister 2 mm (perlon or steel): Twister 2 mm Hanging Wires
- Twister Cliq2Fix 2 mm (perlon, locking head): Twister Cliq2Fix 2 mm Perlon
- Solid Slider 2 mm (side-feed; great for ceilings and security installs): Solid Slider 2 mm
Hooks
- Micro Grip 1 mm (for 1 mm drops): Micro Grip 1 mm
- Micro Grip 2 mm 20 kg (self-locking): Micro Grip 2 mm 20 kg
- Micro Grip Lock 2 mm (self-locking with safety latch): Micro Grip Lock 2 mm
- Auto Grip 15 kg (self-locking, 2 mm): Auto Grip 15 kg
Good to know
Choose hooks to match the drop diameter (1 mm vs 2 mm), not the rail brand. For stability and load sharing, use two drops and two hooks per frame.
Installer’s notes
- Find joists first: use a stud finder or probe holes to locate timber or steel joists. On concrete, use appropriate plugs.
- Clip spacing: start ~2 cm from each end, then every ~40 cm.
- Heavier displays: add extra drops and keep weight near clip locations.
- Finish: arrives primer white (RAL 9016) – repaint after install if desired.
Mini-FAQ
Can I fix into plasterboard only?
No. Fix into timber or steel joists or into concrete with suitable plugs.
How many clips do I need?
Plan 3 clips per metre. Start ~2 cm from each end, then every ~40 cm.
Which drops and hooks should I use?
Use Twister-style perlon 1 mm or 2 mm or steel 1–2 mm. Choose hooks to match the drop diameter. See the product links above.
Is Up Rail only for shops?
No, it’s excellent in homes where you want a ceiling-fixed solution that protects wall finishes.
Can I paint the rail?
Yes. The white version arrives primered (RAL 9016) and can be repainted to match your ceiling. The black version is ready to install as is.
Rails are just the beginning. To hang your pictures you'll also need wires and hooks.
