How do I install Shadowline Masonry Rail?

Fix the rail to the finished wall (post-render) before the ceiling grid. Use wall plugs & screws at 600 mm centres, ensure the 13 mm flange sets the ceiling height, then slide plasterboard sheets into the capture flange and set with acrylic compound.

What are some finishing tips for the Shadowline Masonry Picture Rail?

  • Insert the ceiling lining sheet fully into the capture flange
  • Fix the plasterboard ceiling sheet to the shadowline masonry rail every 600mm to prevent any sheet movement.
  • Use adhesive paper tape on capture flange ceiling sheet to aid adhesion to join
  • Acrylic setting compounds aids the adhesion of setting plaster to rail primed finish

What fixings should I use?

Choose anchors to suit the wall: masonry plugs for brick/concrete, wall anchors for plasterboard, timber screws into studs. The rail has no pre-drilled holes – drill through the rail wherever required.

How strong is it?

Rated 20 kg per linear metre with 600 mm clip spacing. Internal safety factor 3 means the extrusion won’t deform until triple that load.

Which hanging wires & hooks work?

Insert Twister wires anywhere in the slot. Pair with Micro Grip hooks or Auto Grip hooks.

The rails arrived very safely and the 3m ones are now installed. The 2m one will be installed later in the house once we have finished renovating. As promised I have attached a few photos of my art studio space. I didn’t order enough to ensure there are two wires per canvas so would like to order more. I’m so impressed with the system that I want to use the hanging loops in the house.
