Slope Rail Stopper – Stop Wires Sliding on Angled Picture Rails
Installing a picture rail on a slope can look brilliant on a stairwell or raked ceiling wall.
But gravity has opinions, and hanging wires can slowly slide down to the lowest point.
The ArtiTeq Slope Rail Stopper locks into the rail channel and keeps each wire exactly where you set it.
At a glance
- Stops wire movement on sloped rails – no drifting downhill
- Locks into the rail with an Allen key – secure and adjustable
- Ideal for stairwells and raked ceilings – clean, stable hanging points
The simple fix: a stopper that locks into place
This stopper is designed for angled installs where you want the rail to follow the architecture, without the wires migrating down the slope.
Slide the stopper into the picture rail, position it just below the hanging wire, then tighten the internal screw with a hex (Allen) key.
It grips the inside channel of the rail so the wire stays put.
How it works
Step 1: Slide the stopper into the rail
Insert the stopper from the end of the rail (remove the end cap first if needed), then slide it along inside the channel.
Step 2: Position it under the hanging wire
Place the stopper directly below the wire’s slider point so the wire cannot migrate down the slope.
Step 3: Tighten with an Allen key
Tighten the inner screw so the stopper locks into the rail channel.
To reposition later, loosen, slide, and tighten again.
Where this is used
- Stairwells
- Raked ceilings
- Slanted feature walls
- Any angled picture rail install where you want fixed hanging points
Compatibility notes
- Can be used with Solid Slider or Twister
- The stopper prevents sideways movement on the slope. It does not increase the weight rating of your rail, wires, or hooks.
How many do I need?
Use 1 stopper per hanging wire position.
For two artworks on a sloped rail, you will typically use two stoppers (one below each wire).

FAQs
Will this damage my rail?
It locks into the inner channel. Tighten firmly, but do not overtighten.
If you overtighten, you may leave a small mark on the rail.
Can I move it later?
Yes. Loosen with an Allen key, slide to the new position, then tighten again.
Does the stopper carry the weight of the artwork?
No. The rail, slider, wire, and hook carry the load.
The stopper’s job is to prevent the wire sliding down the slope.
What is better Solid Slider or Twister?
The Solid Slider provides a stable connection point in the rail and works best with the stopper to keep the wire aligned on an angled install.
